Willow weeping

You with your long, wispy branches

I respect how you weep for those so lost in sadness.

But, what if,

instead of weeping

you told a joke?

Would those who suffer

temporarily forget

their sadness?

What if they laugh,

laugh so hard they cry?

Remembering life is only as sad

as the saddest thought

refusing to be released

into the universe?

So let us

weep laughing tears.

Your branches would still comfort

and help us to see another day.
